Clubs Not The Only Place Where You Can Enjoy In Beijing
Beijing is extremely famous for its nightlife and its parties that go on till the wee hours of the morning. There are many places in the city that you can enjoy good parties with really good music but if parties are just not your cup of tea then there are a lot of very good restaurants all over Beijing. These restaurants serve the best food that you can get in China and the best part is that the most exotic of dishes are available on their menus.
Beijing isn't well known for its culinary experience. But this is down only to the fact that tourists have no idea where to look. One of the most popular as well as famous culinary experiences that you shouldn't miss when in Beijing is the ceremony of being served the Pecking Duck which has been existent for ages.
If you are interested in a one of a kind experience then it would be a sin of you don't visit the Wangfujing plaza at night where you will be greeted by innumerable bright glowing lights which makes the place look as if the sun is still shining. It is a narrow street and a very good place to pick up souvenirs of your Beijing trip. Most of the eateries here are small restaurants which will have a few tables inside and about 3-4 tables on the outside. There is a massive crowd during the peak hours and you would have to jostle your way through the crowds to place your order. Finding a table would be a massive challenge while if you are not conversant with the local language it could prove to be a problem. But the majority of the crowd will be young students who will always be willing to offer their help to assist you with your order. The menu at this plaza is vast and will include a number of varieties of noodles, lamb kebabs and a assorted variety of fresh fruits. The best part about this place is that the food is delicious, authentic and very affordable.
If you have experienced the above location and are in search of a new challenge then you should visit the Donghuamen night market. This market opens only by late afternoon and will be open till close to midnight. This market is slightly bigger than the Wangfujing plaza and has about 100 odd food stalls that will cater to the most exotic of dishes. But if you are planning on visiting this market, you need to ensure that your stomach is strong enough to digest all these exotic foods. It is very bright and colourful at night with almost every restaurant having staff wearing red aprons ready to cater to your needs.
Although a majority of the crowds are tourists, the staff at these stalls rarely speak English so it is important that you find a local to assist you with your order else you might get something really different from what you had wanted. The specialities of this market will have to be the BBQ scorpion, deep fried octopus and fried ice cream. The other exotic dishes include squid, snakes, cicadas, sea horses as well as silkworms. After your sumptuous meal you could feast on a large variety of candied fruits which are delicious as well as fresh.
